Wildflowers
Gross Seed inventory includes more than 100 varieties of wildflowers, many of
which are used in CRP and CSP specified mixes. The following are some of our
more popular wildflower mixes which lend beautiful color to both commercial and
residential landscapes. Individual wildflower varieties are also available.
Annual Wildflower Mixture
Superior first year bloom, use by itself for an easy quick wildflower patch or to
enhance fading perennial stands or add interest in new perennial plantings. Annual
Wildflower Mix will produce a rainbow of color on blooms ranging from 8 to 36
inches tall. Adapts to moist or dry soils and partial sun to full sun exposure. Colors
include Red, Blue, White, Yellow, Purple, and Orange.
Approximately 251,000 pure live seeds per pound.
Seeding rate:
3-5 oz./1,000 sq ft., or 8-14 lbs./acre.
Mixture includes:
Baby’s Breath, Partridge Pea, Scarlet Flax, Cornflower, California
Poppy, Dame’s Rocket, Clasping Coneflower, Catchfly, Lemon Mint, Dwarf Red Plains
Coreopsis, Plains Coreopsis, and Annual Gaillardia
Prairie Wildflower Mixture
Attractive multi-color display of flowers will bloom from spring through fall. A
mixture of annual, biennial, and perennial wildflowers with about 16% blooming in
the spring, 90% throughout the summer, and 40% into the fall. Colors will include
Yellow, Red, Purple, White, Lavender, and Pink. Height will range from 12 to 48
inches. Tall native grasses like Indiangrass, Big bluestem, Canada Wildrye, and Little
bluestem will add nice texture and habitat value to a Prairie Wildflower planting.
Perennial Mix.
Approximately 208,000 pure live seeds per pound.
Seeding rate:
3 to 6 oz./1,000 sq. ft., or 8 -14 lbs./acre.
Mixture includes:
Black Eyed Susan, Blue Flax, Blue Cornflower, Dame's Rocket,
Dwarf Red Plains Coreopsis, Ox-Eye Sunflower, Grayhead Coneflower, Lance-
Leaved Coreopsis, Lemon Mint, Mexican Red Hat, New England Aster, Partridge
Pea, Perennial Lupine, Purple Coneflower, Purple Prairie Clover, Red Yarrow Shasta
Daisy, Spiked Gayfeather, Prairie Coneflower, Perennial Gaillardia, Annual Gaillardia,
and White Yarrow
1/2 Pint Wildflower Mixture
Showy, shorter version of the Prairie Wildflower Mixture with a great variety of
colors including Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, White, and Pink. Under good growing
conditions, the flower height will range from 8 to 30 inches tall. Works well with
Native grasses like Sideoats grama, Blue grama, Buffalograss and Little bluestem.
Perennial mix.
Approximately 396,000 pure live seeds per pound.
Seeding rate:
2-5 oz./1,000sq. ft. or 6-10 lbs./acre.
Mixture includes:
Baby’s Breath, Black Eyed Susan, Blue Flax, California Poppy,
Clarkia, Blue Cornflower, Corn Poppy, Dwarf Red Coreopsis, Lance Leaved
Coreopsis, Lemon Mint, Dwarf Evening Primrose, Shasta Daisy, Red Yarrow, and
Prairie Coneflower.
Xeriscape Wildflower Mixture
Designed for the arid conditions and sites West of Highway 81 in Nebraska. Nice
combination of annuals, biennials, and perennials with low water requirements.
Colors include Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple, White, Blue, Pink, and Lavender.
Plant height ranged from 12 to 48 inches.
Approximately 173,000 pure live seeds per pound.
Works well with Blue grama, Sideoats grama, Little bluestem, Western wheatgrass,
and Buffalograss.
Seeding rate:
3-5 oz./1,000 sq. ft. or 12-18 lbs./acre.
Mixture includes:
Blue Flax, Purple Prairie Clover, Perennial Lupine, Butterfly
Milkweed, Pale Purple Coneflower, Lemon Mint, Black Eyed Susan, Blue
Cornflower, Partridge Pea, Mexican Red Hat, Clarkia, California Poppy, White Prairie
Clover, White Yarrow, Rocky Mountain Beeplant, Plains Coreopsis, Prairie
Coneflower, Clasping Coneflower, Sulphur Cosmos, and Gaillardia.
